How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many individuals appreciate the ease of using a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the security offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than trying to complete a similar job using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the right option for performing tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the control box or the charger, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, models that are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
