Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks operate in less than 6 feet places and normally use particular guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks consist of Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in compact retail areas and in several warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Usually these are stand-up units such as Reach Trucks. They are usually utilized in warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up models offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is big and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest together with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more effective while limiting exhaustion.
