In the year 1949, the Liebherr family business was established by Hans Liebherr. His first claim to fame was the success of his affordable and easy-to-assemble mobile tower crane. It was upon this creation that the company's foundation flourished under. Nowadays, The Liebherr company has grown to become one of the leading manufacturers in the world of construction equipment. The business has also earned the reputation of being the accredited supplier of technically innovative user-oriented products and services in different fields. The business has now become a "Group" working in every continent with more than 35,000 employees and more than 130 companies across the world.
The Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units so as to ensure a manageable operating size. These separate units operate independently. Liebherr Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is situated in Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. Currently, the family business is being managed in the second generation by Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr and his sister Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr. Ever since the year 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by 3rd generation family members such as: Jan Liebherr, Sophie Albrecht, Patricia Ruf and Stefanie Wohlfarth. These family members have been working hard together to help set up the course of the family business in the future. They are staying on top of residential buildings and large-scale industrial projects all around the world.
Hans Liebherr began to build his business during the year 1949, within a tiny town called Kirchdorf within southern Germany. Kirchdorf, now supports one of Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations.
