Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are more suited to specific tasks like electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machinery gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these kinds of machinery should be directly positioned beneath the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift usually has a larger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these kinds of equipment, as they have to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for cladding or window installation, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle usually utilized to raise workers for different jobs done at heights. Usually, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers can lift employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are various types of cranes which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machines excel at different tasks and are great for particular applications and accomplishing certain jobs.
